The Department of Political Science, Simen Chapari College had come into existence in the year 1994 with the inception of the college, under able guidance and supervision of the Principal, Dr. Sachin Doley and the department became fully functioning in the same year. In the initial years of its existence, the pioneering efforts by these early incumbents of the department, particularly Lt. Dilip Kumar Missong helped enormously in transforming it into a full fledged and one of the most coveted departments of the college in the years to come. Presently the department has 100 seats for honours course and there are more than 200 students enrolled in BA General Course. The department of Political Science conducts classes according to the syllabus provided by the Dibrugarh University. Informative lectures along with ample study materials are provided by the faculty members to the students which has helped the department to maintain a consistent record of academic success over the years. Students in the department are encouraged to pursue higher studies to enhance their knowledge.
